The UT Chapter of the Association of Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and Advocating for Women in Technology (AWIT) are student organizations in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin.
Association of Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T)
The UT Austin student chapter of ASIS&T seeks to promote the professional and academic development of all UT students working in the fields of information science. We sponsor lectures, panel discussions and networking opportunities with practitioners in the field. We also provide various resources, career advice and much more. We are currently focusing on areas such as information architecture, user-centered design, and usability.
Advocating for Women in Technology(AWIT)
UT-Austin iSchool student organization whose goal is to inform, educate, & mentor women in the technical skills necessary to succeed academically & professionally.
From summer 2015 to spring 2016, I served as Communications Director for Advocating for Women in Technology (AWIT) and the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). I managed the social media presence of these organizations through Facebook, Twitter and University list-servs. I helped plan, organize, and facilitate the 2015-2016 events with the ASIS&T and AWIT team. I primarily designed the organization's graphics used for promoting our events.
Visual Design and Event Promotion
Logo and T-Shirt Design
I designed the combined ASIS&T and AWIT logo used on our organization's t-shirts. Previous to this, the separate ASIS&T and AWIT logos were used together in event promotion. Creating a combined logo allowed for a more-unified brand identity for the two organizations.
Here are some examples of flyers I created to advertise ASIS&T and AWIT events. The Coding Commons poster is one example from an event series we organized throughout Spring 2016.
2015-2016 Events and Activities
Between 2015 and 2016, the ASIS&T and AWIT organizations hosted 14 events for attendees in both the University of Texas and Austin communities.
This presentation displays the highlighted events from 2015-2016 and calls out if the event was featured in the University news.
